Stream Restoration Work Days
Central Wisconsin Trout Unlimited has regularly scheduled hands-on volunteer work days on local streams, typically held the third Saturday of the month May through September. A light breakfast, portable on-site restroom facilities and lunch are provided. CWTU provides thousands of hours of stream work each year, which is coordinated with the Wisconsin DNR. River Keepers Water Monitoring
CWTU River Keepers have been actively involved in water monitoring since 2004 and work in partnership with the Wisconsin DNR’s Water Action Volunteers. Currently, 98 volunteers that form teams monitor 44 sites in central Wisconsin. Contact: Bob Jozwowski – bobjozwowski@gmail.com
Annual Banquet
The annual banquet to raises funds for projects and programs. It’s an opportunity to assist CWTU, hear about the accomplishments of the past year and to learn about future goals. It’s always a fun evening with fellow members and offers the possibly to take home a great prize.
Fly Fishing School
The Dan Harmon III Fly Fishing School began in 1976 and is still going strong. It is held every year the first weekend of June on the Tomorrow River.
For those interested in learning fly fishing, this is a fantastic place to start. A team of seasoned and passionate TU members present hands-on learning opportunities that include an interactive classroom, on-stream instruction and guided trout fishing the final morning. Fly Tying Classes
CWTU offers a wide range of classes, starting with the beginner all the way to the very advanced tyer. These classes are: A New Experience – Fly Tying (beginner), Beyond the Woolly Bugger (next steps after beginning) and the Masters Class (experienced).
TroutFest
For nearly two decades, this popular event is held on a Saturday in February. It is a daylong celebration of trout and trout fishing. Held at the Mt. Morris Camp and Conference Center in Wautoma, it includes fishing-related seminars, some of the best fly tyers in the state, youth fly tying, Wisconsin DNR personnel, local vendors and artisans, raffles and more.
