Aquatic Invasive Species Snapshot Day – 2024

Join the statewide search for aquatic invasive species on August 10. This event is hosted locally by Central Wisconsin Trout Unlimited at the Wild Rose Fish Hatchery. Snapshot Day is a statewide one day event connecting volunteers, water lovers, fishing folk, and local groups in a search for aquatic invasive species (AIS). You can help protect our Central Sands area rivers, streams, and lakes from these invasive plants and animals that may negatively impact habitat, wildlife, recreation, and health. This event is coordinated in partnership with UW Extension and Wisconsin DNR.

Volunteers will look for invasive species at critical monitoring sites, and potential invasive species will be verified and cataloged with the DNR to guide species control and  conservation management plans. No experience is necessary and training is provided prior to deployment to the monitoring sites. The sites selected for monitoring are Willow Creek, Pine River, Rattlesnake Creek and Long Lake which are a close
drive from the Wild Rose Fish Hatchery.
