Work Day

Dear members and friends of CWTU,

CWTU is excited to kick off a fresh season of trout habitat restoration in 2023 with our first Stream Conservation Day of the year on Saturday, May 20th This is your chance, as members of Trout Unlimited, to see up close and personal the positive impact you can make on our local coldwater fisheries.  Working closely with our partners at the DNR, it’s also a great way to learn more about trout habitat, trout fishing, and conservation in general.  The focus of our conservation work in 2023 will again be on the beautiful West Branch of the White River just outside the city of Wautoma.  This stream is truly unique in central WI in that it holds naturally reproducing populations of brown, rainbow, and brook trout.  You really need to see it to fully appreciate it!

Stream Conservation Days will occur, weather permitting, on the 3rd Saturday of the month May through September from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon (we recommend getting there 15 min. prior if possible).

2023 Dates:
  • May 20th – West Branch County Road Y site
  • June 17th – West Branch County Road Y site
  • July 15th –  West Branch County Road Y site
  • August 19th – Bird Creek Park
  • Sept. 16th – West Branch County Road Y site
We start with coffee and donuts in the morning and end each day with a full lunch and cold beverages, all provided by CWTU volunteers.  You will need waders (preferably an older pair), wading boots, and work gloves.  Hats and sunglasses are also highly recommended.  All are welcome, and we encourage you to bring a friend! Just remember to RSVP and let us know you’re coming so we can plan accordingly.  Come on out and have some fun!

We hope to see you there!  We were fortunate to have great turnouts in 2022, and we are anticipating another great year.  PLEASE RSVP TO THIS EMAIL IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND NO LATER THAN WED. 5/17 SO WE CAN GET AN ACCURATE HEADCOUNT FOR LUNCH.
