Work Day

Dear members and friends of CWTU,

CWTU is excited to finish out our 2023 season of trout habitat restoration with our 5th and final Stream Conservation Workday of the year on Saturday, September 16th This is your chance, as members of Trout Unlimited, to see up close and personal the positive impact you can make on our local coldwater fisheries.  Working closely with our partners at the DNR, it’s also a great way to learn more about trout habitat, trout fishing, and conservation in general.

The focus of our conservation work will once again be on the beautiful and easily accessible Bird Creek in Wautoma.  We had a wonderful workday at this site in August, but there is plenty of  work that still needs to be completed!

The work site is at Bird Creek Park, located just behind Wautoma High School.  We will meet up just before 8:00 am at the Beck Pavilion (pavilion right next to the splash pad). Look for the TU signs and our CWTU trailer as you enter the park.

2023 Dates:
  • May 20th – West Branch County Road Y site
  • June 17th – West Branch Cottonville Drive site – NEW!
  • July 15th –  West Branch County Road Y site
  • August 19th – Bird Creek Park
  • Sept. 16th – Bird Creek Park
We start with coffee and donuts in the morning and end each day with a full lunch and cold beverages, all provided by CWTU volunteers.  You will need waders (preferably an older pair), wading boots, and work gloves.  Hats and sunglasses are also highly recommended.  All are welcome, and we encourage you to bring a friend! Just remember to RSVP and let us know you’re coming so we can plan accordingly.  Come on out and have some fun!

We hope to see you there!  We have had a terrific season of conservation so far and we are anticipating another great turnout on the 16th.  PLEASE RSVP TO THIS EMAIL IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND ASAP SO WE CAN GET AN ACCURATE HEADCOUNT FOR LUNCH!

We had a great workday turnout Saturday, May 20th. A chapter member Mark Hoffmann was taking lots of photos and said he would send them to Wayne. I just emailed him as a reminder. Below is the group photo and the photo of Elliot Donnelly Chapter member Jeff Goad presenting a check for $4000 to Linn Beck.
